Our History

Born in Italy and raised in the United States, Maria Mitrani co-founder of Andiamo, married a Mexican more than thirty years ago and moved to Baja California, practically becoming a cachanilla (name given to natives of Baja California).

Maria’s passion to discover the world won her to the travel vocation. Following several years as a tour leader, she felt the desire to provide fun programs with a greater educational and cultural content. Hence, in 1997 she joined her parents, founders of Andiamo for Unique Tours, initially established to offer journeys in Italy. However, Maria’s true interest was to share the love of her adopted Mexico. Thus, although similar in many aspects such as national colors and physical shape, yet a world away in many others, Italy was changed for Baja California and the name to Andiamo Tour Mexico (aun-dee-ah-mo meaning “let’s go” in Italian). Maria’s daughter Esther, inheriting her mother’s passion for travel, joined in 2002, bringing a young spirit and the enthusiasm to share this land with a larger audience, still maintaining a small family agency environment.

Grateful of the support and per request of our satisfied adventurers, we expanded our services to the majestic Copper Canyon in Chihuahua and into the heart of Mexico to Michoacan and its surroundings. We offer educational journeys for members of well-known institutions such as Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Road Scholar and a growing number of European agencies, among many others.
